Carotid Doppler Ultrasound

This test will examine the carotid and vertebral arteries using sound waves. There are no known health risks from using these sound waves to make images. The test normally takes from 30 45 minutes.

  1. You may take your medication as normal.
  2. An ultrasonographer will make a set of images for the Radiologist.  A gel will be applied to your skin and the ultrasound transducer will be rubbed on your neck.
  3. The Radiologist will interpret your images, and a report will be sent to your doctor. You will receive the report from your doctor.
